Angama Mara enjoys a superb position on the top of an escarpment overlooking the Masai Mara 300 metres below. A private access road leads to the game rich Mara Triangle area of the reserve where expert guides take guests on game drives to see the famous prolific wildlife found here including big cats and, in season, the herds of the wildebeest migration. Guided walks on the escarpment offer a different dimension to your safari and a picnic on the location of some of Out of Africa's famous scenes adds a romantic, colonial element to your stay.
The lodge, designed by renowned safari lodge architects Lesley Carstens and Silvio Rech, features a huge main guest area wrapped in stacking glass doors with exposed brickwork and a large deck overhanging the escarpment. There are two completely separate camps, each with 15 tented suites and their own guest area, kitchen and staff. The Pavilion, which is set between the two camps, houses the safari shop, swimming pool and fitness room.
The unique architecture and colourful designs make Angama Mara a welcome alternative to the traditionally styled camps found in the Masai Mara.
A new luxury option for your Masai Mara safari, Angama Mara has amazing views and its modern, colourful design is a departure from the traditional style of many camps.
Angama Mara offers outdoor and private dining experiences, including a bush BBQ that is not to be missed.
Each of the two camps has 15 tented suites which can sleep 2 with canvas roof and three canvas sides with floor to ceiling glass frontage to make the most of the views.
Tents come with super king size beds, but can also have twin beds on request.
Over 100 sq metres in size, the suites feature colourful fabrics, polished parquet floors and spacious wooden decks.
Each camp has 2 interconnected tents which can be used by families.
Children of all ages are welcome at Angama Mara. There are two sets of interconnected suites and child friendly activities include tracking with Maasai guides, beading, cooking and visiting local schools.
The resort also offers a childminding service.
