Back in the 1970's Chinzombo was the base for Norman Carr's Green Season operations. Much has changed in the last 40 years and the camp has now been transformed into the leading super luxury lodge in Zambia. The lodge is set on the banks of the Luangwa River, so guests arrive at the lodge by boat and enjoy stunning river views from all parts of the lodge. The enormous bush villas retain a wild, colonial feel, with huge decking areas complete with private pool and sitting area. The main lodge houses the open dining area and bar where guests convene in the evening to share tales of their day exploring the stunning South Luangwa. For both first time and repeat visitors to Africa, Chinzombo is a must do, superb accommodation, incredible game viewing and wonderful guides to bring it all together.
Newly opened Chinzombo is setting new standards as Zambia's leading luxury lodge. It's wonderful location, with 60 acres of private river frontage, combined with the superb guiding and density of game symonomous with the South Luangwa make this one of the must visit lodges on a trip to Zambia.
As befits a lodge of this quality, the food is superb and a real highlight of a stay. Meals are served in the main dining room or out in the open, with the option for private dining in the villas being offered as well.
The Bush Villas here are vast, with wooden floors, canvas side and huge decking areas where you find plenty of sitting areas and your private plunge pools. The villas have a strong colonial feel to them and are wonderfully comfortable, with the bed areas cooled by a special air flow system. There is a two bedroom family villa available as well.
Chinzombo accepts families on a case by case basis - please speak to your consultant who will contact them on your behalf. The minimum age for walking safaris is 12.
