Located in a beautiful wine-producing valley equidistant between the city and the beach, this hideaway has just nine suites, all with private patios, and offers an outdoor swimming pool, sundeck and renowned personalised service.
Leave Cape Town and drive into the Cape wine region and the charming village of Franschhoek for two nights at The Last Word Franschhoek.
A Huguenot-style villa which has been beautifully restored using a fusion of the classic with the contemporary, it sits just seconds away from many wonderful restaurants, boutiques and galleries in a village which is surrounded by many wine estates.
With just ten rooms, two of which have access to private pools, it offers comfort and charm in an elegant and relaxed environment.
Drive along the famed Route 62 to Oudtshoorn to stay for two nights at the Rosenhof Country House, an exquisite farmhouse which has been restored into a very welcoming hotel, reminiscent of somewhere in a traditional English village. Those with green fingers will appreciate the spectacular rose gardens, art-lovers will appreciate the gallery and those not counting calories will love the renowned afternoon tea.
Make your way along the Garden Route to the town of Knysna for a three night stay at The Turbine Boutique Hotel & Spa. On the Garden Route in the centre of Knysna’s vibrant waterfront area, this is an old power station which has been magically transformed into a superb hotel, surrounded on three sides by water and now offering light & airy guest rooms with over-sized beds, a swimming pool, spa, two restaurants and a selection of bars.
Continue onwards into the Eastern Cape to stay three nights on safari at the Amakhala Safari Lodge. Located on the northern boundary of the reserve, this property has 11 luxury suites, all with a private plunge pool and spacious sitting area. Throughout the suites are wonderful examples of African beadwork and handicrafts, and in addition to game drives and bush the lodge also offers a special three day package which includes game viewing in the Addo Elephant Park and a visit to the nearby Born Free Foundation.
