Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens in Cape Town is hosting its annual Winter Wonders special from Saturday 15th June to Monday 8th July 2019, where families get the chance to explore the gardens and learn about indigenous flora. This year, children aged 17 years and younger get free entry to Kirstenbosch and the chance to enjoy an exciting kids programme, packed with fun-filled activities at the Moyo Kirstenbosch Restaurant. These include drumming, arts ‘n crafts, slime-making, movies, rides and more.
There will be guided or unguided tours that start at the Conservatory, consisting of the main house with a baobab tree growing in the centre, and four corner houses each representing an ecological region of southern Africa. It then heads along Tree Canopy Walkway, where there are birds and life-sized dinosaurs hidden throughout the Cycad Amphitheatre.
During the tour guests will be able to view the different species of proteas and visit a number of gardens, including the Useful Plants Garden, Fragrance Garden and Sculpture Garden.
Kirstenbosch will be open every day from 8am to 6pm in the winter.
