A family-owned property in a landscape that is both wild and romantic, fringed by misty mountains with views that reach into infinity on the plains of the Great Karoo. The reserve consists of 70,000 acres with two totally different properties supplying accommodation for all needs and tastes.
Karoo Lodge provides traditional colonial-style comfort, with four suites in the main building, three spacious cottages and two interleading rooms with a shared deck by a waterhole (perfect for families with small kids)
The Manor at Samara has four private suites in an old African homestead given a contemporary twist with its design and creature comforts. Rented exclusively, it has its own chef, ranger and safari vehicle as well as its own swimming pool.
COVID-19 POLICY |
Space, space and more space are on offer at Samara, where a wonderful wildlife rehabilitation programme has transformed the landscape. The range of accommodation caters for all budgets and although it is a three hour drive north from Port Elizabeth flying by light aircraft reduces this to just 20 minutes. The cheetah walks and aardvark night safaris are definite highlights.
Rooms across all of the lodges are en-suite and well furnished with their own private sitting areas.
Great for children and families as it is a malaria free safari area. Safari programmes can be tailored to children with shorter game drives and walks, giving children the chance to learn more about the animals and plants that they see during their stay.
There is a dedicated children's menu on offer throughout the year.
Children under the age of 8 are not permitted on the scheduled game drives, but private vehicles can be arranged at extra cost subject to availability.
