For return visitors to Cape Town who are looking for a new place to stay away from the city centre, Constantia provides the perfect spot, within easy striking distance of both the city centre and airport (half an hour to each in fair traffic) you have all of the attractions of Cape Town nearby, but with a peaceful location that makes you feel a world away from the city centre.
On arrival you will be ensured a warm and friendly greeting before being shown through to the spacious lounge area where you will be checked in and given a quick orientation of the property before being shown to your room. The property offers 4 Superior Rooms, 1 Family Suite, 2 Pool Suites and 2 Elegant Suites, but, whichever room type you choose you won’t be disappointed. The family room overlooks the gardens, with the other rooms all set in a separate building adjacent to the swimming pool, which offer a lovely secluded feel. The rooms are all wonderfully spacious, with areas to sit and relax, large bedroom areas and wonderful bathrooms equipped with underfloor, which is very welcome even in the summer months. The Pool and Elegant Suites also boast their own outside sitting areas, which are perfect for sitting in the afternoon and enjoying a glass of wine – all drinks are included in the rate here, so please let the staff know on arrival and they will stock your fridge accordingly. There is also a bar in the main lounge that you are welcome to serve yourself from throughout the day, as well as a drinks table laid out in the evenings where guests socialise before going out for dinner.
The property is ideally located for exploring the Constantia Winelands, with many wineries within 10 minutes drive, as well as enjoying some of the fantastic restaurants that the area is so well known for. A personal recommendation would be the fabled La Colombe, now at a new location 15 minutes from the Last Word and well worth the journey. In addition to this, there is an excellent restaurant next door for flight lunches and the staff will always be happy to recommend somewhere to eat and book tables for you accordingly. Of course the main thing visitors want to do in Cape Town is to be out and about exploring, however, if you do want a relaxing afternoon by the pool, there are few better places to have one than here. The pool area catches the afternoon sun and is a great place to relax, but if you want somewhere more shaded the lawn is under the trees and is a great place to relax and read a book.
Before heading off to explore the area, you will be able to enjoy a hearty breakfast in either the dining area or out on the terrace if the weather is fine. The cold buffet is superb with a variety of meats, cheeses, fresh fruits, breads and preserves and of course, there is a fantastic cooked option available as well. If you are departing early they can always make arrangements to serve you early or prepare a packed option so don’t be afraid to ask. A stay at Last Word Constantia is a wonderfully relaxing experience and will make you want to return time and time again so look to work a stay here into your next trip to Cape Town.
