One of the newest resorts on the island and a ‘Leading Hotel of the World’, this is a haven of opulence and sophistication throughout its one & two bedroom villas.
Although each villa is decorated with facets of the island’s African and Omani heritage, they still have every modern amenity as well as their own private swimming pool. The resort’s main pool which overlooks the beach is partly glass-walled and there is an air-conditioned fitness centre, floodlit tennis court and water sports centre. The Residence really is a resort for all ages.
With sister hotels in Mauritius and The Maldives, The Residence has a pedigree of excellence in the Indian Ocean. The major draws for this outpost are the guest villas, each with their own private pool, the renowned children’s club, and the dhow cruises which the hotel operates. Fun with a camera can also be had at the main swimming pool, which is glass-walled.
There are plenty of options when it comes to dining. Pick from two restaurants for a gastronomic adventure, where international flavours combine with a Zanzibar ‘spice’. If it’s something more intimate you’d prefer, perhaps some in room dining would be more your preference. And then there’s always the lunch time spot at the poolside, a romantic dinner on the beach or keeping it casual at the Dining Room bar.
Each room is beautifully designed with fresh white walls, and chunky wooden furniture. It brings the sense of modernism with an African heritage twist, but in an oh-so-stylish way. And with views of the ocean and garden, and access to the pool, you might just manage to drag yourself away from an enviable state of bliss.
The Kids Club is available from ages 3 to 12
The Residence Zanzibar takes great care in ensuring all their guests and the children are well looked after, giving parents peace of mind and the confidence to relax and enjoy their holiday. Multi-lingual, professionally trained staff provide endless entertainment and adventure with a myriad of activities in a spacious, air-conditioned club house. Children can learn Swahili, take bike rides around the property, compete in volley ball tournaments, play hide and seek and much more. Babysitting is available at an extra charge.
