One of the oldest Cape Dutch farms in the area is now a luxury hotel and award-winning restaurant in the heart of the Cape Winelands.
At Babylonstoren’s Farm Hotel, the overall effect is relaxed yet well-heeled with some of the existing farm buildings transformed into sophisticated guest accommodation. Set adjacent to a 3,5 hectare (8 acres) cultivated fruit and vegetable garden, the hotel is characterised by thick whitewashed walls, elegant gables and hearty fireplaces that emulate an authentic farm stay experience. There are six one-bedroom suites, as well as three one-bedroom cottages and four two-bedroom cottages. The one- and two-bedroom cottages have a lounge area and basic kitchen.
The Farmhouse suites include nine one-bedroom suites. These all have access to an outdoor swimming pool and a hot spa area that includes a salt room, sauna and vitality pool as well as a lounge area.
Simplicity, clearness and high quality are Babel Restaurant’s most valuable essentials. Boasting a touch of creative innovation combined to a selection of fresh and genuine ingredients – all vegetable and fruits are gathered daily from the garden – the restaurant is the perfect place to restore your palate and mind in total health and taste. All specialities, accompanied with the most excellent wines, may be enjoyed either in the glass enclosed restaurant or in the courtyard.
With its 3 types of enchanting accommodation, decorated in contemporary and traditional Dutch style, Babylonstoren represents a unique escape from the hectic city life. Each one, is an oasis of relaxation, luxury, and is designed to fully assure a memorable sojourn among the wonders of South Africa. Elegantly furnished, they boasts fireplace in sitting area, en-suite bathrooms, outdoor veranda or garden for alfresco dinners.
Being a small and cosy property, Babylonstoren is perfect for families with children, although there aren’t any specific facilities for them. The accommodation is family friendly and the restaurants offer half price meals for children on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Babysitters are available on request.
A baby cot can be added to any room type, however families with children are advised to book the 2 bedroomed cottage.
Kids activities include cycling on the paths (bicycles are provided or you can bring your own), collection eggs from the chickens, feeding the donkey's carrots, helping the gardeners pick fresh fruit and vegetables, rowing on the dam (with adult supervision) or climbing the nearby kopje (hill).
