Africa's fourth longest river, the Zambezi is perhaps best known for its powerful cascade down a 1.7 kilometre-wide gorge to form one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Victoria Falls. However, as one would expect on such an enormous river, there is an abundance of high-octane activities to enjoy, so we've listed just some of the best which we feel you absolutely have to experience.
Devil’s Pool
Arguably the world’s most famous infinity pool, Devil's Pool attracts thrill-seekers from around the world. Formed through years of erosion, the rock pool is as close to Victoria Falls as you can get, offering you a safe swim literally right up to the edge of the sheer drop off the side of the falls, an experience which will never be forgotten.
Boat cruises
As far as Victoria Falls experiences go, a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River is one of the most popular family-friendly activities available. Expect to see elephants, hippos, crocodiles, exotic birds and more during your cruise. With personalised service, comfortable private seating area, and delicious snacks and premium drinks, there is no better way to experience the Zambezi River in style.

Avid anglers from across the globe flock to the Zambezi to experience some of the best freshwater fishing available in Africa, with many fishing havens and lodges waiting to be explored. There are many excellent camps and lodges to choose from around Zambia to serve as the base for your adventures, including the famous Sausage Tree Camp and Royal Zambezi Lodge.
White Water Rafting
For anyone seeking an adrenaline rush, white water rafting along the Zambezi is a must. White water rafting is an activity which is synonymous with the Zambezi river, and has long been considered as one of the best one-day white water trips available anywhere in the world. The experience offers something which many other high-octane activities; complete unpredictability. The varying nature of the water levels means there is no telling what the rapids might might have in store on the day.
Canoeing Down The River
