The Katavi National Park is wonderfully isolated and there are very few accommodation options here, but Chada Katavi is an absolute gem of a camp that really appeals to safari enthusiasts and offers a truly authentic safari experience.
Guests shouldn’t come here expecting a true luxury experience - the camp is simple with just six safari tents and a mess area so no pool, gym or spa, but that isn't what you are here for! The game viewing around the camp is simply sensational and whether you are enjoying day or night drives, as well as their renowned walking safaris, you will be superbly looked after by Chada Katavi's outstanding guiding team.
When relaxing in camp you will be able to expect warm hospitality and laid back but efficient service. Meals are enjoyed communally and there is a real feeling of being part of the family at Chada. A magical camp that shows what safaris would have been like back in the early days, exclusive with superb game viewing in the day and dinner and drinks by the camp fire at night.
Small, intimate and isolated, Chada Katavi is paradise for true safari enthusiasts. The camp is simple yet very comfortable and, whilst it lacks some modern luxuries such as a swimming pool, that isn't what you come to Katavi for. You are here for the game and Chada Katavi is superbly located for accessing the prime game viewing areas and boasts some of the best guides in Tanzania to allow you to enjoy it to the full.
Communal mess tent
The quality of the food at Chada Katavi defies the remote location. A superb choice of dishes are available at meal times all enjoyed in the main dining area or out under the stars if the weather permits in the evenings.
Chada Katavi is comprised of just six spacious safari tents giving it a very intimate feel. The tents have mesh sides to allow cool breezes to blow through which are very welcome during the heart of the day. Bucket showers and flush toilets in the bathrooms.
Children from ages 12 and above are welcome, but they must be 16 and older to enjoy walking safaris.
