For an Out of Africa experience, right in the heart of Kenya, this traditional camp set on its own 6000 acre private conservancy is where to come. As its name implies, it conjures up a bygone era and all the romance of African safaris. On the border of the Masai Mara with the Serengeti and Loliondo reserves, it preserves its authenticity as it has been run by the same family for over 100 years.
The camp is situated in a timelessly unspoiled setting with sunset views stretching to distant horizons of the Masai Mara and the Serengeti plains covered in boundless game.
Accommodation is in six spacious white canvas tents and four two-bedroom family tents, and for the ultimate private bush experience Cottar’s Private House is a magnificent five-bedroom homestead complete with a dedicated staff of eight.
The real ‘Out of Africa’ Kenyan experience. Open for over 100 years, it is wonderfully atmospheric and takes guests backs to the early days of safari. This is as good as the Masai Mara gets.
Cottar’s has been created to bear families in mind. There are four family friendly tents, all with en-suite bathrooms, as well as the Private Homestead which is ideal for bigger groups. Activities vary from bush walks, cultural visits and fishing trips, all of which children can get involved in.
