Located on a tranquil private beach on the southern coast of Kenya, Kinondo Kwetu is a small all-inclusive luxury resort overlooking the Indian Ocean – an ideal honeymoon hideaway or just the retreat where we all need to get away from it all.
Family-owned and run, it is well distanced from any neighbours and can only accommodate a total of 38 guests in a selection of rooms and cottages furnished with Swahili antiquities and surrounded by green shady gardens. The variety of accommodation options mean Kinondo Kwetu caters well to couples, honeymooners and families and there are plenty of areas to relax in peace and quiet.
In addition to sunbathing on the beach and swimming in the Indian Ocean, the resort offers an impressive selection of activities ranging from snorkelling to deep-sea fishing, horse riding and yoga. There is one very large and one smaller outdoor pool, a tennis court and also an exercise area. Massage and beauty treatments are offered and there is also a wood-fired sauna.
One of the best boutique properties on the Kenyan coast, a wide range of accommodation is available from standard rooms and suites to cottages. The nearby Ukunda airstrip also provides guests with the chance to fly directly to the resort from the Masai Mara without having to transfer via Nairobi.
Your three-course lunch is taken on the beach, in the soothing shade of trees or in the boathouse by the sea. Your dinner may be served under a clear moonlit sky or in the water tower. At Kinondo Kwetu, there is no fixed dining area. To serve your dinners, they take advantage of the many different charming spots in the garden, on the beach or in the houses. They have a set three-course menu for lunch and dinner. A key ingredient is local fish, caught each morning by Kinondo village fishermen, using traditional methods. Local vegetables and meat are sourced daily to create fresh and flavourful dishes.
Kinondo Kwetu's bartenders specialise in preparing healthy, fresh tropical drinks. Kinondo Kwetu's wine list proposes a selection of South African vintages.
