Opulent Jack's Camp is situated on the border of the Makgadikgadi Pans in the Kalahari and is a welcome oasis in a harsh yet beautiful environment. Founded in the mid-1960s, this is the last remaining old-style African safari camp in Botswana, and the Persian rugs, crisp cotton linen and mahogany furniture conspire to create a distinct colonial feel. There is an extensive range of activities at Jack's Camp, often blending culture, history, archaeology and geology. Interact with a family of meerkats, go on interpretative walks with Bushmen guides and visit Chapman's Baobab - one of the oldest and biggest trees in Africa. You can also go bird watching and game viewing or opt for a thrilling game drive at night. During the dry season, activities include quad biking across the salt pans and sleep-outs under the stars while in the wet season you have the chance to witness the spectacular zebra and wildebeest migration
Remarkable and one-of-a-kind. Located on the desolate Makgadikgadi Pans, the range of activities on offer - quad bikes trips, walking with meerkats, tracking with the bushmen, sleeping under the stars – is as stunning and memorable as the camp itself. An expensive but truly unique property – one for the bucket list.
The central guest areas at Jack's Camp look out over the enormous salt pans and you can enjoy the stunning views from the comfort of a swing-chair or as you sip a sundowner at the bar. A swimming pool set under a tented pavilion offers respite from the heat of midday while a cosy fireside setting will keep you warm in the evenings as you reminisce over the day's events. Learn more about your surroundings by browsing through the reference books in the camp's small library or spend an afternoon in the museum before heading off on your safari activity. Make sure you leave enough time to stop by the shop to pick up a souvenir or two.
Jack's Camp's communal dining area features a long table around which you can swap stories with other guests over dinner. The menu emphasises fresh and original cuisine with dishes such as fresh basil soup, ostrich piccata, roast Botswana beef and orange tarts. You can also relax, unwind and replenish in Jack's Camp's shady Tea Tent during the day.
Accommodation at Jack's Camp comprises 10 spacious canvas tents, all of which are luxuriously appointed and decorated in a classic 1940s safari style. Each tent comes complete with an en suite bathroom plus indoor and outdoor showers. You can relax in style and enjoy the views from the comfortable lounger on your tent deck.
