A traditional and magical wilderness experience in what is termed Tanzania’s wildest park, which sprawls along an ancient arm of the Great Rift Valley.
Shaded by magnificent acacia trees, this eight tented suite lodge offers privacy and seclusion along the banks of the Jongomero Sand River. Each suite is raised on a wooden platform, boasts an eight foot wide dhow bed, and lies under a large thatched roof with its own spacious verandah. With it’s nearest neighbour miles away, this is Tanzania at it’s remotest.
Ruaha’s best safari camp, where the large tented suites, each with their own eight foot wide dhow bed, are set along the banks of the Sand River. This is almost as remote as you can be in Tanzania although a short flight connection also makes it simple to combine a safari here with a beach stay on Zanzibar.
The public area is beautifully located in the deep shade of an ancient African ebony tree with uninterrupted views of the Jongomero River bed. Dining is an adventure: a combination of table d’hote, elegant buffets, al fresco dinners under the stars, campfire cooking and classic safari picnics.
Jongomero Camp welcomes you to eight luxury tents which rest on a wooden platform. Verandas are the vocal points of the outside, which view points both at the front and back. Makuti thatched roofs will keep you securely inside, and with en suite bathrooms kitted out with flushing toilets, hot indoor showers and double sinks and vanity area, the luxury seal is everywhere. But for us, you are spoilt with the views.
Although children are welcome, we wouldn’t recommend this camp for children under the age of seven, due to its location and game drives.
