From it's vantage point on the bank of the Luangwa River, Kaukuli offers one of the best bush camp experiences in the South Luangwa, especially in Green Season when it is the place to be for boating safaris. The small, comfortable tented rooms are an ideal retreat after a long day exploring, whilst the central bar and dining area is a great place for relaxing during the day and enjoy sumptuous brunches and dinners. The location is particularly good for spotting the predators for which the South Luangwa is so well known as they come down to the river to drink. Guests can choose between walking and driving safaris, both of which should be enjoyed in equal measure, as well as boating safaris when the water levels permit.
The South Luangwa is a wonderful experience at any time of year, but Kakuli really comes into it's own during Green Season, where it acts as the base for boating safaris on the fantastic Rivers and Rainbows itinerary run by Norman Carr Safaris. If you are feeling adventurous then they offer the chance to sleep out in the bed of the Luwi River, a wonderful experience as you dine and sleep under the stars.
The central bar and dining area is the focus of the whole camp and eating is a true pleasure at Kakuli. After a long day and evening exploring the park a roaring fire and delightful meals will await guests.
Just 4 safari tents make up Kakuli, with spacious sleeping areas leading in to the ensuite bathrooms. They blend in seamlessly with the surrounding environment giving Kakuli a true bush camp feel.
Children aged 8 and over are accepted, but will only be able to do walks from the age of 12.
