Set in the private Linyanti Reserve, Kings Pool Camp is a luxurious tented camp overlooking Kings Pool Lagoon and the Linyanti River. This little-visited area of Botswana is characterised by grasslands, riverine forest and open woodlands which, along with the now-flowing Savuti Channel, make for an especially rewarding safari experience - enormous herds of elephants are a feature of the dry season, and the region is famous for its density of predators. Set out each morning and late afternoon for expertly-led game drives in this wildlife-rich region. You can also accompany your professional guide on a walking safari to discover another side of this environment, particularly the varied birdlife. Boating trips are also offered when water levels are high enough. One of the highlights of your stay is watching elephants from the camp's underground hide; with the lagoon water at eye level, you can see the elephants' legs and trunks as they wade in the water.
A very fine lodge in a remote area which overlooks both a river and the lagoon after which the property is named. The large tents have their own plunge pools & day salas, but rather than while away a few hours there, the tip is to settle down into the camp’s underground viewing hide, which gives the lucky inhabitants an eye level view of the game at the adjacent waterhole.
The tents and main areas of the camp are linked by raised wooden walkways allowing animals to wander freely around the guest areas. The camp overlooks a hippo-filled lagoon where elephants often cross - the enormous wooden deck and two comfortable, sunken seating areas are fantastic vantage points to watch wildlife. There is a plunge pool built into one side of the deck - a cool place to spot animals around the lagoon - as well as a more formal, covered seating area, well-stocked bar and dining area under thatch just behind the deck. There is also a very well-stocked curio shop where you can find gifts for those at home.
A light breakfast is served before your morning safari whereas a substantial brunch awaits you on your return. Afternoon tea is a decadent choice of sweet and savoury snacks and is served before your afternoon drive. Dinner can be served at individual tables or a large sociable table in the dining area, but more often than not you’ll eat under the stars on the open deck. The evening meal is usually a choice of plated options although once a week you’ll be treated to an evening of traditional food, singing and story-telling around the fire.
The camp's nine luxurious thatch and canvas tented suites overlook the hippo-filled Kings Pool Lagoon - each spacious suite has its own bedroom, lounge and en suite bathroom with an additional outdoor shower. There are folding doors in the front of your suite so that you can open the tent completely and enjoy views of the lagoon. Wander onto your private deck and relax around your private plunge pool or on your day bed in the shade of your gazebo. There is a Family Room is a large double room suite with a master bedroom and an adjoining bedroom with two single beds. Both rooms will have a wooden deck giving you views of the surrounding area, and are connected to each other through an inter-leading walkway.
