Kuro Tarangire is a classic Tanzanian dry-season camp, only operating from June to November but ideally located for the extraordinary game viewing that the Tarangire National Park boasts at this time of year. If you are looking to really enjoy walking in Tarangire this is the place for you as the quiet location makes it ideal for walks, but fear not, day and night drives are offered as well.
As with all of Nomad's camps, the focus here is on being small, so guests really get the best possible attention, not only from their guides when on safari but from the staff in camp as well. The service is friendly and discreet - you never get the feeling staff are hovering waiting to serve you but equally, they are always there when you need them. The food is lovely and served in the open sided mess area or out under the stars.
The tented rooms are simple yet comfortably furnished but are really in keeping with the remote location. The beds are very inviting after a long day exploring the park whilst the verandas at the front are a great place to sit back with a good book or pair of binoculars during the afternoon. The family tent is two connected rooms and also has a sitting area so suits two couples travelling together as well.
Kuro is a great choice for safari enthusiasts or those looking for something a little out of the ordinary for Northern Tanzania which does have a lot of top-end luxury options. Simple, comfortable and boasting an outstanding location, Kuro Tarangire is fast becoming one of our favourite camps in the area.
Kuro Tarangire is a wonderful choice for Tarangire. Small and simple, yet very comfortable and superbly run, the proximity to the main game viewing areas of the park make this a safari purists paradise. Sure you don’t get the same luxuries as some other camps, but that is part of the charm of Kuro and the game viewing around here can't be beaten.
As this is a small camp meals tend to be taken communally in the mess area. The food takes it's lead from the style of the camp, simple yet delicious with good variety and dinners can be taken under the stars is weather permits.
Kuro has just 6 tents, including the 2 bedroom family tent. They are light canvas with open verandas at the front, bucket showers and flush loos. Relatively simple but blissfully comfortable and very welcoming after a long day exploring Tarangire.
Children are welcome from 8 and upwards although must be 12 or older to go on walks. One family tent is available.
