Uber-luxurious hideaway at the heart of a private estate, it enjoys glorious views of the nearby mountains and the abundant vineyards which surround the area.
A multi-award-winning property which consists of 11 suites and 5 private villas, boasting 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms. Each room has its own balcony or terrace and is decorated with eclectic opulence – silks, Persian rugs, Indian chandeliers, French armouries, Asian artefacts and some glorious antiques. Just a short distance from some of the best wineries in the region and less than an hour from the delights of Cape Town, it is a haven of peace and tranquillity which is renowned for its food and unrivalled setting, as well as for its highly personalised and dedicated service.
This really is as good as it gets in South Africa, or indeed anywhere; everything ‘La Res’ does is seven-star. The general manager Edward, and his trusty lieutenant Nick, offer the finest yet most discreet service possible. If your budget can stretch to it, stay here.
La Residence restaurant’s dining area is reminiscent of a manor hall, resplendent with dazzling chandeliers, black and white flooring and vast fireplaces, while outside, the Persian Alley offers a delightful setting for alfresco summer meals. Here a bubbling rill flows between lush green lawn and luxuriant floral borders. The chef presents a seasonal menu that is alive with flavour, made from the best local ingredients and produce freshly picked from La Residence’s own kitchen garden.
Every suite and villa is uniquely decorated in an eclectic and luxurious manner whilst retaining a certain rustic simplicity and elegance, all with a French twist. Sink into the sumptuous beds and pamper yourself in the bathrooms fit for a queen. And finally relax on your private balcony which as promised rewards you with breath-taking views – life can sometimes be really this good.
Children are welcome at La Residence, and we would recommend you to stay in a villa. They are more private with more space for the kids. There are also plenty of activities for them to get involved with.
