Ongava Lodge is situated along the southern boundary of Etosha National Park in the privately owned Ongava Game Reserve. Ongava is the ideal place from which to base your activities when visiting Etosha. Accommodation comprises twelve air-conditioned brick, rock and thatch chalets, each with en-suite facilities.
Meals are either served in the main dining area under thatch with a view over the camp's water hole, or on the dining deck under the stars. Activities include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles into the Okaukuejo area of Etosha where Lion, Elephant, Cheetah, Gemsbok, Springbok and Hartebeest can be seen at many of the waterholes in the park.
In addition, hides and walks with armed guides are enjoyed on the private reserve. Ongava has resident White and Black Rhino, giving guests staying at Ongava the unique opportunity to see both of these charismatic species.
Ongava Lodge offers a superior safari on one of Namibia’s largest private reserves. Particularly good for those wanting to see the ever-rare white and black rhino, both of which are found in numbers on the reserve.
Situated on a tree-covered hill, Ongava Lodge offers beautiful views over waterholes and swaying grasslands from the main lounge, bar and dining areas. These cleverly designed main areas are on split-level wooden decks to enhance the views and make for a wonderful refuge in between game drives. On hot afternoons you can also take a refreshing dip in the lodge's swimming pool or visit the curio shop which stocks a large variety of souvenirs and African gifts.
Start your day with a full English or continental buffet breakfast which is served before your morning game drive. Picnics in the bush and lunches at the lodge are also part of the culinary deal at Ongava while your evening meal is served buffet style with a selection of international cuisine and local game dishes. Dinner at Ongava Lodge is served in the main dining area under thatch with a great views of the camp's waterhole or on the dining deck under the stars.
Ongava Lodge has 14 brick and thatch chalets, each with an en-suite bathroom featuring a flush toilet, double hand basins, bath and indoor and outdoor showers. On hot summer nights you'll appreciate the air conditioning of these rooms, which are also fitted with overhead fans. Each room has glass-fronted doors that lead out onto a private covered veranda.
Families on safari will appreciate the Family Suite at Ongava Lodge, similarly furnished as the other suites but boasting more room. There are two bedrooms, each with a bathroom, and the suite can comfortably accommodate two adults and two children.
