The excitement is palpable throughout the lodge which is ideally placed from which to trek to find the magnificent Mountain Gorilla.
Only minutes from the gates of the Parc National where the treks begin, it provides great creature comforts as well as some of the most spectacular views in central Africa – the Virunga chain of volcanoes which stretch across central Africa through Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Accommodation is in stone-built cottages and suites, each with their own shaded veranda and indoor fireplace, as well as spacious sitting, sleeping and bathing areas.
Part of the renowned Governors Camp collection of lodges, this is the premier base from which to track Rwanda’s gorillas. Located just a short drive from the National Park, the cottages are beautifully constructed and have fireplaces, which are handy for the cold winter mornings.
There are plenty of options for dining. Join your fellow guests in the dining hall and swap stories and photos. If you wanted something more special request a picnic and it’ll be set up for wherever you desire. If you want to be totally secluded then ask for room service. The food is fantastic so it’ll sort out those rumbling tummies.
The lodge consits of five double cottages, two suites and one family suite. Each room includes a large living area, a fireplace, a chic en-suite bathroom, a dressing room, and a delightful sheltered veranda. The family suite has a second bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.
Children are welcome in the lodge and there is a family cottage specially designed to cater for them. Please note that children under the age of 16 are not permitted to visit the gorillas.
