Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma is an exclusive upmarket lodge that could not be better situated; positioned on the banks of the beautiful Zambezi River within the wildlife-rich Mosi-oa-Tunya Park, Sussi & Chuma is only a short drive from the iconic Victoria Falls. Named after the faithful companions who carried David Livingstone's body back to England, the lodge is part of the Sanctuary Retreat's Collection and consists of 12 elegant, air-conditioned tree forts built into the canopies of impressive ebony trees. Inhale the wood-scented air while sitting beneath a towering tree, planning your daily activities with the host. Go on a game drive in search of the wildlife or a walking safari with an expert guide to track rare white rhino. Meet friendly children from a nearby village, learn about the man behind the legend at the David Livingstone Museum, and glide down the Zambezi River on a gorgeous sunset boat cruise.
The main lodge here has twelve tree-houses, complete with air-conditioning, but the real attraction are the two luxury houses available for private rental. Each has two bedrooms and a private pool and benefits from the services of a private chef, making it perfect for a family stay close the Falls. Also the only place to see white rhino in Zambia.
Sussi & Chuma offers a range of appealing activities - try fishing or a boat cruise on the Zambezi River, explore the Victoria Falls in a myriad of ways, or take a cultural tour of Livingstone and shop for unique souvenirs in the local craft markets. Game drives and walking safaris with expert guides complete the offering. Unwind alongside the swimming pool or on the raised communal bar and lounge with fantastic views of the Zambezi River and its resident hippo pods. Also overlooking the river, the Safari Spa offers a wide range of pampering massage and hydrotherapy treatments for utter relaxation.
The kitchen serves an excellent selection of cuisine blending local ingredients with international flavours. The chef's table d'hôte menu features enticing dishes like crocodile curry and impala stew. Meals are served by highly attentive staff, outdoors whenever possible, and often around a boma fire in the evening.
Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma comprises of 12 elegant tree houses, built into the canopy of giant ebony trees lining the banks of the Zambezi River. Each open plan tree house is decorated in earthy tones, comfortable furnishings and offers an en suite shower and bath, providing a peaceful and serene retreat after an active day. Sit serenely on your private deck, sipping a sundowner as you listen to the roar of Victoria Falls and watch hippos frolic in the sunset-tinted river below.
Additional to this there are two private Chuma Houses are perfect for families with young children. Each house has two en suite bedrooms, a spacious lounge and dining area and private plunge pool. Each of the houses also come with their own private chef and house staff.

Children of all ages are welcome to stay at Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma, however children nine years and older are welcome to stay with their parents in their tree-houses. There are plenty of activities to get involved in from game drives, visits to a local school and toy making. They will receive a welcome back pack which includes a big five colouring book, colouring pencils, water bottle, torch and children's binoculars.
