Located in the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia, Tena Tena is a tented safari bush camp overlooking a bend in the Luangwa River. The custom-made tents are sheltered by a grove of mahogany trees near to the Buca Buca Lagoon. Accommodating a maximum of 10 guests, Tena Tena assures an intimate and personalised stay. The park hosts a wealth of African wildlife, including elephants, hippos and antelope, as well as 400 species of birds. Explore this remote reserve on guided walking safaris, and day and night game drives. For something more cultural, head to the nearby Kawaza village for the chance to learn more about the local way of life. Those wishing to relax in the camp can spend time at the thatched bar area that overlooks the river where animals and birds come to drink.
The game viewing from here is superb, with the guides some of Zambia’s finest. The walls of the tented rooms can be rolled up so game can be spotted from the bed. A true and authentic African bush experience.
The camp is of an intimate nature, both the bar and the dinning area are open structures with lovely views over the river and waterhole. There is a good 'library' of books on offer for guests to read to enhance their knowledge of the bush.
The dining area at Tena Tena is made up of a thatched restaurant and bar. The restaurant is only partially covered, allowing guests to continue their experience of African nature while dining. Breakfast features hot porridge, cereal, bread, fruit and tea/coffee to begin the day. Return to camp after the morning activity for a delicious brunch including a light selection of hot and cold dishes. Pre-dinner drinks are served around the campfire, after which a hearty dinner is served
Tena Tena has only six spacious tents shaded by a grove of mahogany trees. Each tent has an en suite bathroom with a shower and flush toilet, as well as hot and cold water. In addition, the tents feature a roll-up flap which opens the tent to views of the waterhole and the wildlife that come here to drink. There is a honeymoon suite which has a private sitting area and king-sized bed.
