The Outpost is found in the Makuleke Concession, in the far North of the Kruger National Park, approaching its border with Zimbabwe. The isolated location, with very few other lodges in the region, makes it an ideal location for walking safaris and to enjoy the unique and beautiful topography. The area is also known as Crooks Corner, where 2 rivers and 3 countries, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique meet and guests will have the chance to stand at the viewpoint and overlook the confluence.
The Outpost is South Africa's leading destination for Big 5 walking safaris as the terrain is perfect for exploring on foot, although guests can enjoy game drives and birding safaris as well. With just 4 guests allowed on each walking safari, you will be assured fantastic attention from your guide which really helps to make the experience special.
Whilst relaxing in camp, guests will be able to enjoy the main lounge or sit back in their spacious luxury suite. The views from the suites are stunning and they have been designed to make the most of the space and natural light that the elevated position of the camp offers.
Isolated and beautiful, The Outpost is unlike any other safari lodge in Africa, partially because of its location in the far North of the Kruger National Park. The focus on walking safaris gives guests an experience they won't get anywhere else in the country and the stunning topography means photography opportunities are around every turn.
Mealtimes at The Outpost are always an enjoyable time, with sumptuous breakfasts, lunches and dinners served in the main communal dining room. For somewhere so isolated, there is always a wonderful choice of fresh, carefully prepared dishes. Private dining can be arranged on request.
The 12 rooms at The Outpost are all set up on the hillside overlooking to Levubu River and are connected to the lodge by a long walkway. They have a very modern feel to them, using steel and concrete to create a contemporary living space. They have large retractable screen windows which can be opened to provide stunning views out to the Levubu River Valley. The open sided showers offer views out as far as Mozambique on clear days.
