For many years the western section of the Etosha National Park was off limits to visitors and even now there are fewer people and vehicles allowing those who do venture here to enjoy game viewing in relative exclusivity. A stay at Dolomite Camp is a great stopover when driving between Damaraland and the rest of Etosha and the camp enjoys an enviable position on a rocky ridge with amazing views over the surrounding plains.
Winding stony paths and steep wooden walkways link the 20 chalets with the main lodge area which includes a sundeck and infinity edge swimming pool. Spaced out along a ridge amongst dolomite rocks the comfortable thatched chalets face either west or east and some also have a plunge pool.
Guided game drives can be arranged but you can also explore in your own vehicle and at your own pace, visiting the numerous waterholes in the area where you may spot elephant, black-faced impala, springboks and, if lucky, lion and rhino.
Dolomite Camp has a stunning setting and great views and allows self-drivers to explore this quieter section of Etosha en route between Damaraland and the rest of the park.
The camp has 20 canvas and wood chalets in total, spread out along a rocky ridge and with either sunset or sunrise views. The three deluxe chalets have the additional feature of a plunge pool. Inside you will find tea and coffee making facilities, a safe and a small fridge.
Guided game drives and self drive safaris.
While children of all ages are accepted the camp is better for older children as it is unfenced and some of the walkways are steep.
