1. Lake Malawi
Stretching over 300 miles, Lake Malawi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the jewel in the crown of Malawi's tourist attractions. Discovered over 150 years ago by Dr David Livingstone, this vast body of clear bluewater (it's the ninth largest lake in the world) is one of the best freshwater diving and snorkelling spots in Africa and is fringed by crowd free golden sand beaches that can easily be combined with a safari in Malawi itself or in the game rich South Luangwa National Park in neighbouring Zambia. 2. Nyika National Park
Located in the North of the country, Nyika is Malawi's oldest and largest national park. Often compared to the highlands of Scotland because of its breathtaking mountainous scenery, the park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna including large herds of zebra, sable antelope, leopard and hundreds of wild flowers and bird species. A great way to explore the park is by foot or by bike.



3. Wildlife
Whilst Malawi's safari areas may not have as many large mammals, particularly predators, as their better-known cousins like the the Kruger and the Serengeti, they offer the chance to see wildlife away from the crowds, in stunning areas of unspoilt wilderness. A case in point is Liwonde National Park, which is brimming full of wildlife like elephants, lions, hippos, black rhinos, crocodiles and kudus. In addition to the elephants and the lions, Malawi is also home to over 600 species of birds making it a bird lover's paradise.  



4. Friendly People

Malawi is a destination with an incredible amount to offer. From safaris, breath-taking views, amazing wildlife, but most importantly, it is renowned for its warm and friendly atmosphere created by the Malawian people.
