Little Makalolo occupies a privileged position as one of the few private camps situated within Hwange National Park. The camp enjoys exclusive use of an enormous concession area in the heart of Zimbabwe's premier game reserve
An off-shoot of the bigger and more impersonal Makalolo Plains Camp, ‘Little Mak’ caters for just 12 guests. If early starts are not your thing, spend time instead in the viewing hide which overlooks the waterhole, and is one of the top spots in Hwange from which to view vast herds of elephants.
The camp's six rooms have en-suite facilities, with both indoor, outdoor showers and private verandah. Its chalets have the canvas construction of a classic bush camp, yet the décor combines this with welcome contemporary feature
Activities at Little Makalolo Camp centre on open 4x4 Land Rover game drives and guided nature walks throughout the Makalolo concession. The area's large number of waterholes attracts game in both quantity and variety, especially in the winter months when Hwange is literally home to a Noah's Ark parade of animals as they come down to quench their thirst.
There is a family tent, so if you are looking at taking everyone then that is a great option. There is plenty for the children to get involved in, and if the age limit varies on activities, the staff is fantastic at looking after the younger ones.
