Muchenje Safari Lodge enjoys a unique position to the west of Botswana’s famed Chobe National Park.
Muchenje sits on an escarpment with wonderful views of the Chobe River, and Namibia’s Caprivi Strip and seasonal flood plains. Unusual for a Botswana Lodge, Muchenje is owner run and managed, which allows for a more personalised service. Guests enjoy flexibility in terms of activities, and wonderful hospitality in an idyllic setting.
Muchenje Safari Lodge’s position means that it is far away from the bustle in Kasane, and guests enjoy extensive game drives in a rarely visited section of the Chobe National Park.
In addition, as the Lodge is located in the Chobe Forest Reserve, game walks and night drives are also available, which add immeasurably to the wildlife experience.
One of our all-time favourite properties in Chobe. Very-well run with excellent guides, and located in a quiet area of the park away from the hordes of tourists who sometimes congregate along the banks of the Chobe Rover. The views from the lodge across the plains are spectacular, with the swimming pool often the prime spot from which to game view.
The main lodge of thatch, wood and stone incorporates light and spacious sitting areas, a bar area, dining area and fabulous viewing deck, all with magnificent views of the Chobe River environment. The nearby swimming pool and pool deck offer similar, apparently never-ending vistas and you can take a reminder of your safari home with you from the lodge's well-stocked curio shop. WiFi is also available.
The delicious meals at Muchenje Safari Lodge are served in the lodge's dining area looking out over the Chobe River. Enjoy a sundowner cocktail from the lodge bar as you watch the sun set over Africa, and then share your safari experiences and wildlife sightings of the day with other guests as you dine together in a fun and casual atmosphere. Themed dinners, vegetarians and special meal requests can be catered for.
Muchenje offers 11 thatched Safari bungalows, each being beautifully appointed having its own unique view of the Chobe.
The bathroom is a good size with shower, toilet and his/ hers hand-basins. Each Safari Suite has a ceiling fan, wardrobe, electric safe and writing table. You also have a private, shaded veranda, from which to take in the sights and sounds.
Of the 11 Safari rooms, 1 is a family unit, and accommodates 4 guests. There is a double bed and full bathroom downstairs, and a loft area with 2 single beds upstairs. This unit also works well for a small group of friends travelling together
Children 8 years old and over are welcome.
