Ecological architecture as it should be, the lodge is camouflaged in river-stone and covered with indigenous creepers, so is totally invisible from the floor of the crater, 600 metres below.
Virtually on the rim of the crater, all the rooms and suites overlook the crater and although day trips down into this wildlife wonderland are available, each room has a balcony so that guests can watch the action in the magical amphitheatre on the crater floor below.
As one of only a handful of properties which sits on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, this lodge tends to get booked up very well in advance so early booking is highly recommended. Barely visible from below, each room at this well-camouflaged lodge has a balcony overlooking the crater floor – which is one of the best spots for a pre-dinner G&T.
The split-level rock-built dining and bar area features a wall of windows, which look down on to the constantly changing vistas of the crater below while double doors lead out on to a broad viewing terrace. Clustered around a glowing central fireplace, the space is decorated with prehistoric cave paintings and lit by stylized torches.
Hugging the Crater rim each room enjoys uninterrupted views on a private rock-enclosed balcony which spoils you with the Crater’s unmatched splendour and sheer beauty. Embossed leather head boards, bespoke, one of a kind mirrors in hand painted Maasai murals decorate your room, showcasing the very best in African charm.
The Kimba Suite(Presidential Suite)
The lodge offers a wide selection of board-games and books on Africa and the wilderness. Their professional nature guides also offer nightly talks and video presentations on wildlife. They also offer:
