This exciting itinerary takes you from the banks of the iconic Victoria Falls to the far corner of the Hwange National Park, exploring the largest game reserve in the country.
Accommodation includes: Zambezi Sands River Camp, Nehimba Lodge and Camelthorn Lodge
Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Johannesburg on British Airways.
Morning arrival and connecting flight to Victoria Falls. You will be met at the airport and taken to Zambezi Sands River Camp for a three night stay on full board basis with local drinks, park fees and activities included. Rather than staying in the busy tourist town of Victoria Falls retreat upriver to Zambezi Sands which enjoys a lovely, peaceful location on the banks of the Zambezi river. Whether you take the 45 minute drive from town through the forest of the Zambezi National Park or the hour long journey on the river you will arrive at this small, intimate and friendly camp, a relaxing base from which to explore the surrounding area. The eight huge tents offer space and privacy with a lounge area and a splash pool on the deck overlooking the river.
Activities include game viewing by vehicle, boat and on foot, canoeing, fishing and a visit to a local village. A tour of the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls is also included (park entrance fee paid locally) as well as a return transfer to Victoria Falls town during your stay.
Today you will be driven to Hwange National Park and Nehimba Lodge, viewing game enroute. In the remote northern region of Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park and deep inside a private concession, Nehimba Lodge combines the comforts of a luxury safari lodge and exciting game viewing activities. Your three night stay includes full board, local drinks, park fees and game viewing on game drives, night drives, walks and hide visits. The seven thatched rooms are raised on teak decking and, like the lounges, dining area, bar and swimming pool at the main lodge, overlook Nehimba Pan which attracts a wide range of wildlife, particularly in the dry season.
Today you will take a game drive transfer to Impofu Siding where you will have the unique experience of travelling on The Elephant Express, a two-hour railcar journey on an almost completely straight train line, viewing game along the way. On arrival, you will be taken the short distance to Camelthorn Lodge, your base to explore the southeastern part of Hwange. A peaceful lodge with unique rooms nestled in the forest, Camelthorn is a wonderful option for those not looking for a tented camp. The glass fronted rooms offer fantastic views out into the forest. They are all well furnished and have their own maisonette areas where guests can relax, enjoy their meals and even sleep out under the stars.
Stay for three nights on full board basis with park fees, local drinks, game drives, walks, hide visits, night drives and a local school and village visit included.
