The Hide epitomises what it is to be a family-run safari camp, and has more than earned its reputation as a consummate safari destination, for both the exceptional wildlife experience and the hospitality it offers. Situated in Hwange National Park, which was once the royal hunting ground of Ndebele kings, there is abundant and diverse wildlife - in particular large herds of elephant and buffalo, and if you're lucky you might see the wild dogs.
The Hide is the place to go for boutique safari luxury, it only has 10 tented suites, all of which overlook the waterhole which is very popular with animals day and night.
Between game drives and walks in the National Park, there is plenty of time to relax in a comfortable lounge or sit quietly in a hide to watch the wildlife. After meals all together around a giant table or al fresco under the Acacia trees, you can spend a lazy afternoon by the plunge pool or in the shade of your verandah.
The Hide is a long established camp whose classic luxury tents enjoy great views over the plain and waterhole in front of the camp. The addition of Tom’s Little Hide gives small groups and families the option of a more private safari experience and for those who have always dreamt of sleeping in a tree house, the Dove’s Nest provides a memorable night out in the African bush.
Dining at The Hide brings you something new everyday, whether it's an alfresco breakfast overlooking the waterhole, or a communal dinner around a massive teak table. And, of course, sundowners in the bush and drinks around the campfire are safari staples. The Hide can also provide a more secluded dining experience, and loves to help guests celebrate special occasions.
Calling the rooms at The Hide tents really doesn't do them justice. Each one has been indivivually styled, with the choice of twin beds or doubles. They all come with an en suite bathroom, and some have outdoor baths and showers. All tents are mosquito proofed and have fans for the warmer months.
The Dove's Nest is also available for those who want to spend a night in the bush in a treehouse!
No children under 10 years unless a party is taking over the whole camp.
