Plantation Lodge occupies an enviable location on the outskirts of Karatu, just a short drive from both the Ngorongoro Crater and Manyara National Park. The lodge is set on 10 hectares of landscaped grounds and is owner run and managed to give a really authentic and friendly feel to the lodge. It is an ideal base for exploring both of these great wildlife areas and very popular with Africa Travel clients.
Much of the food used is grown and reared on-site and that that isn't is sourced locally so there is a really good feel of putting back into the local community from the lodge and guests are encouraged to visit the local village and learn more about life in this area. The bar and lounge is a popular place to congregate in the evenings and the wine list is the envy of many other lodges in Tanzania.
With 16 rooms and 8 suites, there is a sociable atmosphere here at all times, but you never feel like you are overrun by other guests as all of the rooms are nicely spread out. The rooms all have their own individual character which does help to set Plantation Lodge apart from some of the other options in the area.
A great choice for visiting the crater, Manyara, enjoying great food as well as just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the lodge.
The Plantation Lodge is a terrific value for money option and is ideally located for exploring both the Crater and Manyara National Park. There is plenty to do after safaris including swimming in the pool, massages or just relaxing on the sun terrace. An excellent option for families, especially those looking to have their own space as there are a number of multi-room suites
With much of the produce for meals reared and grown on-site or sourced locally, food is a real feature of a stay at Plantation Lodge. Dinners are a four course affair, complimented by a superb wine list and guests can choose their own wines from the cellar should they wish.
The lodge is comprised of 15 one bedroom and 1 two bedroom standard rooms as well as 7 one and 1 two bedroom suite. All have their own unique style and benefit from plenty of natural light. The verandas or terraces with lovely views of the garden are a superb spot on which to relax.
Children are welcome at Plantation Lodge and there are 2 two bedroom family rooms available.
