Remotely located in the Northern part of the Okavango Delta, Vumbura Plains is a wonderfully luxurious base for your safari, made up of 2 satellite camps, Vumbura Plains North and South. The 14 rooms are spread between the 2 camps and give guests a beautiful place to return to after a long day exploring the Okavango Delta. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious, with large bathrooms, as well as private decking areas with plunge pools meaning that you don’t need to leave your room to cool off in the heat of the day. The lounge areas in the main part of the lodges are packed with large comfortable sofas, the perfect place to curl up with a book in the afternoons. The location of the camp means that you can enjoy game viewing from both open sided vehicles and traditional mokoro canoes, meaning a wonderfully rounded safari experience.
Although perfectly secure and safe, this is not one for the faint-hearted as the decadent rooms at Vumbura are open on three sides to nature. The game viewing in the surrounding area is some of the finest in Botswana, with drives, walks, boat trips & mokoro cruises all offered. An example of Wilderness Safaris operating at their best.
A high thatched roof covers the central lounge, bar and dining area which overlook the communal campfire and the extensive floodplains beyond. An additional alfresco dining area for brunches and starlit dinners is located on a deck a short distance away. The lodge's swimming pool is tucked away for peaceful afternoon dips, and you can also enjoy a massage at the water’s edge while looking out over the Okavango Delta scenery.
The open-air dining room, raised on wooden decking and set under large riverine trees, serves delicious, freshly prepared breakfasts and brunches. Afternoon tea and delectable dinners are served in the atmospheric, thatched dining area. In order not to interrupt your game viewing experience at Vumbura Plains, breakfasts and picnic lunches are often served while on a game drive.
The 14 rooms are split between the North and South Camp and are some of the most luxurious you will find anywhere in Botswana. Spacious, comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms lead out onto a large decking area where you have the bonus of a private plunge pool to relax in. There is also a 2 bedroom family suite available.
Children over the age of 12 years are welcome.
