!Xaus Lodge offers rustic and comfortable accommodation in a 50,000 hectare private concession in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
The central lodge has a welcoming reception, lounge and dining area and the 12 individual chalets are situated along the ridge of a sand dune overlooking the vast salt pan in front of the lodge. Guests can stargaze on clear nights and the fire-pit in the boma creates a cosy atmosphere.
The lodge's guides are from the local Khomani San community and they take guests on night drives to spot nocturnal creatures, sundowner drives and fascinating walks in the dunes examining tracks and explaining the uses and unique features of the desert flora.
This is the place to go to disconnect - there is no WiFi, TV or mobile phone signal - and to relax in the tranquil surroundings of the remote desert wilderness.
!Xaus, pronounced "kaus", means "heart" in the Nama language and refers to the vast, heart-shaped salt pan overlooked by the central lodge and chalets. !Xaus is a community owned lodge that offers a unique desert stay experience.
Each of the lodge's 12 comfortable ensuite chalets features rustic wooden furniture and a deck with wonderful views over the salt pan and waterhole.
The lodge accepts children of all ages.
