Xigera Safari Lodge is located in the Moremi Game Reserve and enjoys private access to 4,500 hectares of the Okavango Delta’s wetland paradise. Surrounded by lush vegetation, swamps, wooded islands and permanent water, the lodge is a wonderful base from which to venture out on game drives, boat trips and mokoro canoe trips to discover the Delta’s amazing wildlife. The area is known for sightings of red lechwe, elephants, buffalos, sitatunga antelopes and reedbucks while some of the predators that might be encountered include lions, hyenas and leopards. Birders will also not be disappointed with hundreds of species to see including Pel’s Fishing Owls, African Skimmers and the Pied Kingfisher after which Xigera is named. The lodge itself is a bold design statement filled with one off pieces of art from African artists and hand crafted furniture that creates a living gallery with thoughtful details and captivating aesthetics to be enjoyed at every turn.
While this design lodge is full of art and colour and great thought has gone into every detail, Xigera’s pristine wilderness location and safari experience should not be overlooked. A sleepout in the striking baobab treehouse structure is a must.
The lodge has a total of 12 luxuriously appointed air conditioned suites, each individually designed with unique works of art and handmade furniture. The spacious suites offer seclusion and privacy and the outdoor decks include a gazebo and day bed to relax and take in the views of lily-filled lagoons and passing wildlife. The family suite has two ensuite bedrooms and is the perfect, private space for families or couples travelling together.
Children aged 12 and over are welcome however, for safety reasons, mokoro and walking activities have a minimum age of 13. The two bedroom suite is perfect for families.
