Kulala Desert Lodge, Sossusvlei
Surrounded by red dunes, desolate mountains and gravel plains, Kulala Desert Lodge is set at the heart of the Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert. The camp's main buildings have been built in a North African style and constructed entirely from clay bricks with a wrap-around veranda overlooking a waterhole and the surrounding desert scenery. Accommodation at the lodge comprises of 23 thatched and canvas chalets with en-suite bathrooms and verandas, each unit is built on a wooden platform to catch the cooling breezes and has a deck on the flat rooftop for sleep-outs under the stars. There are also three tents which can accommodate a family of four each. There are no age restrictions on any of the guided activities.
Ongava Lodge, Etosha National Park
Located on a private game reserve, Ongava Lodge is the ideal place from which to base yourself when visiting Etosha National Park. Accommodation comprises of twelve air-conditioned brick, rock and thatch chalets, each with en-suite facilities. Families on safari will appreciate the Family Suite at Ongava Lodge, similarly furnished as the other suites but boasting more space. There are two bedrooms, each with a bathroom, and the suite can comfortably accommodate two adults and two children. Each of the 14 standard chalets also has space for additional beds to accommodate any children.
Sossusvlei Lodge, Sossusvlei
Located next to the entrance to the famous red dunes of the Soussusvlei, The Sossusvlei Lodge has 45 comfortable accommodation units with a tented bedroom and ensuite adobe walled bathroom. Each unit also has a patio and those at the front of the property also have views over the desert and the waterhole which attracts game throughout the day. The lodge also has family units with the same features as the standard units, but with inter-leading doors between the bathrooms connecting the two units. There are also a wide variety of activities to keep everyone in the family entertained including quad biking, archery, guided nature walks and hot air balloon trips.
Doro Nawas Camp, Damaraland
Located on a rocky outcrop in ruggedly beautiful Damaraland, Doro Nawas Camp commands spectacular views of the Etendeka Mountains to the north and the red sandstone cliffs of Twyfelfontein in the south. Accommodation consists of 16 ensuite chalets which combine natural stone and canvas walls with wood and glass doors, all shaded by a thatch roof. Children of all ages are welcome at the camp and food and meal times can easily be adjusted to suit younger guests. Babysitting can be arranged on request if parents fancy a bit of time out.
Onguma, Etosha National Park
Located on a huge 34,000 hectare private reserve, Onguma Bush Camp comprises 16 rooms and is ideal base from which to explore Etosha National Park for families with children. Accommodation consists of 5 twin bedded standard rooms which includes 3 rooms with a children’s sleep area in the loft and 1 family unit with 4 beds. The camp also has a games room and swimming pool to keep the little ones entertained. Child-minding can also be provided on request at no additional cost and a children's menu is also available.
&Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge, NamibRand
&Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is an indulgent retreat from which to explore the huge red dunes at Sossusvlei and revel in the peace and tranquillity of this pristine desert environment. Should parents wish to share a room with younger children, the lodge is able to accommodate a limited number of triple rooms, where an additional bed is set up in the parents’ room for children 16 years or younger. Like all &Beyond properties, &Beyond Sossusvlei also have their incredible WildChild programme which includes various activities to educate and entertain the little ones.
Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre, Swakopmund
The Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre is built in and around the old railway station in Swakopmund and offers the perfect balance between charming, old world tradition and the thrill and excitement of modern day entertainment.
