The location is everything at Ilala Lodge. It is the closest hotel to the Victoria Falls which are just a 10-minute walk away and the shops and restaurants in Victoria Falls town are on your doorstep.
The lobby and main guest areas have a colonial flavour with antiques and pictures of explorers while the rooms have a more modern style. Sitting on the terrace at award-winning The Palm Restaurant, dining on gourmet cuisine and watching the spray from the falls is one of the pleasures of staying at Ilala Lodge while the friendly staff will make your time here as comfortable as possible.
Ilala Lodge is an ideal base to relieve the journey embarked on by David Livingstone and explore the great Zambezi River aboard the Ra-Ikane fleet. Named after his instrumental guide, the boats honour the rich history of Victoria Falls and its explorers, adventurers and heroes. The Ra-Ikane offers a variety of cruises, including breakfast, lunch, sunset, as well as private charters. Other activities at the camp included bird watching, game viewing, guided and self-guided walks, cycling and interaction with elephants in the area.
Ilala Lodge is very good value and is conveniently located for the falls and the town, both within walking distance. The friendly staff are always available to answer questions about the town and the rolling lawn and view is just perfect for end of the day sundowners to reflect on the experiences had in this bustling town.
At Ilala you can dine at The Palms - an a la carte restaurant either under the high thatched roof or on the terrace with a view of the spray from the falls, or at Kubika whose menu includes game dishes such as crocodile and ostrich.
The hotel has 52 very comfortable rooms and four suites with a modern style. Each has an ensuite bathroom, air conditioning and ceiling fan as well as a safe and television.
Activities in Victoria Falls are numerous with adventure based options and more sedate, scenic choices for those looking to relax.
The hotel is family friendly and the rolling lawns are a great hit for kids needing to stretch their legs. There are interleading rooms for families and babysitting can be arranged with prior notice.
