Personifying African elegance at its best, San Camp is located in a private concession bordering the Makgadikgadi Pans and offers a complete Kalahari Desert experience. Often described as one of Africa's most romantic camps, San Camp only operates during the dry season from April to November. With its seemingly endless vistas of rolling golden grasslands and palm tree-lined horizons, San Camp's location next to the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park gives the visitor the best of both worlds: game-rich open savannah as well as dramatic, stark salt pans. The resident guides at San Camp are very good and focus on species unique to the area such as gemsbok, brown hyena and springbok as well as the geology, archaeology and anthropology of the Kalahari and Makgadikgadi Pans. Explore the area on quad bikes, 4X4 game drive vehicles or on foot where the chances are good that you'll meet meerkats along the way - these feisty fellows have a tendency to climb on visitors to use them as lookout points.
Sometimes described as a poor man’s Jack’s Camp, this is unfair, as although it is almost 25% cheaper, the activities available are very similar and the tented accommodation is still very much 5-star. A visit to a tree might not seem to be high on the list of things to do here, but a trip to Chapman’s baobab, one of the oldest and largest in all of Africa, will captivate and fill many a viewfinder.

Yoga Tent and Tea Tent. San Camp has a reputation for delicious, fresh and original menus. Plated meals are elegantly presented and served in the splendid mess tent. Indulgent, decadent teas are served daily
San Camp accommodates a maximum of 12 guests in six large walk-in white canvas tents on slightly-elevated wooden platforms, each with private facilities. Featuring private verandahs with views of the concession as well as en suite bathrooms with separate showers, the tents have a distinctly rustic, old-school-safari feel, complemented by copper water basins and paraffin lamps.
Perfect for honeymooners and couples, the two romantic Honeymoon Tents come complete with regal colonial-style 4-poster double beds.
